National Numeracy Champions for primary school staff and early years practitioners
Online
Confidence with numbers is particularly important for staff supporting children in primary and early years and yet, many of them will tell us they feel anxious about maths. This can have a negative impact on the workforce from struggling with aspects of their job roles to holding them back from accessing career development programmes. In order to support staff to feel more confident with maths, National Numeracy are offering free places on our Becoming a Numeracy Champion programmes.
This CPD accredited programme does not teach maths, but instead explores how participants think and feel about maths, discusses the causes of maths anxiety and provides practical strategies to support individuals to improve their skills and confidence with numbers in the workplace.
The programme runs across two online sessions and participants are expected to attend both sessions. The online sessions are delivered on Zoom and participants will be sent joining instructions by National Numeracy. These sessions are open to teaching assistants, family liaison officers, nursery practitioners and primary school teachers, who do not feel confident with numbers.
